A sombra vermelha está em alta. Antes vista como uma cor que traria o aspecto de doente ou de cansada quando aplicada nos olhos, tons avermelhados têm sido aposta de diversas linhas de maquiagem e consumidoras.
Essa mudança pode ser explicada por diversos fatores. Um deles foi a popularização, no TikTok, das tendências de “tired girl makeup” – maquiagem da garota cansada –, da “crying makeup” – maquiagem da garota que está chorando –, e da “cold girl makeup” – maquiagem da garota que está com frio. Todas essas técnicas usam tons avermelhados nos olhos e visam passar justamente uma sensação de abatimento, fragilidade e feminilidade e delicadeza.

Outro fator relevante foi a ascensão da estética “glossy”, muito usada por Hailey Bieber. Esse tipo de maquiagem gera a sensação de que o rosto está molhado, besuntado. Por isso, abre espaço para que produtos além das sombras tradicionais sejam usados na área dos olhos – geralmente, lip tints e gloss de cor rosa ou avermelhada.
Além disso, o momento de pós-pandemia está marcado por visuais chamativos que expressam criatividade. Fazem parte disso as maquiagens temáticas de eventos específicos, que fazem sucesso nas redes sociais. O vermelho é usado em muitas delas, como as de Carnaval, Valentine’s Day e Natal.

Seguindo essa tendência, diversas marcas estão lançando produtos de tons avermelhados para a área dos olhos. É o caso da Chanel, que apresentou este ano uma paleta com quatro tons de vermelho: a Les 4 Rouges Yeux et Joues. O produto pode ser aplicado nas bochechas, como um blush, ou como sombra para os olhos. Também foi lançada a Noir Allure Mascara, máscara de cílios também em vermelho. Ambos produtos fazem parte da coleção Primavera/Verão 2023, chamada de “The Definition of Red” e voltada inteiramente para esta cor.
