Mary contou por meio de suas redes sociais, que para ter um efeito perfeito de luz e sombra, o contorno da pele é feito entre as primeiras etapa da maquiagem, antes da aplicação da base e do corretivo. Fazendo dessa forma, o contorno na pele fica com o acabamento mais natural, ajuda a afinar a face e não fica tão marcado, ou seja nem de fato aparentar que é um contorno.

Em um vídeo a maquiadora mostra o passo a passo de como fazer essa técnica. Primeiramente é importante lavar e hidratar bem a pele para receber os produtos, em seguida você deve aplicar uma cor mais escura do seu contorno nas áreas do rosto onde deseja afinar, podendo ser um contorno liquido ou em pó. Após esse processo, utilize iluminador novamente nas áreas que deseja destacar, depois é só seguir como de costume com a maquiagem normal, base e corretivo aonde forem necessários e finalizar com o pó compacto.

Apesar de parecer um truque bastante fácil, o underpainting não funciona para qualquer tipo de maquiagem, é melhor aplicado para quem prefere utilizar makes leves e bases fluidas.
