O final do ano de Gabriel Medina foi bem agitado, o surfista passou as comemorações de ano novo na Praia do Toquinho, em Maracaípe, sul de Pernambuco, e foi fotografado com diversas mulheres enquanto estava lá.
Medina ficou hospedado numa mansão onde recebeu celebridades e amigos e entre as pessoas presentes estavam as modelos Nicole Rocha e Nathália Castro, já apontadas como interesses amorosos do surfista, ele chegou a posar em fotos com as duas, imagens que foram compartilhadas nas redes sociais.

De acordo com alguns sites, na noite de réveillon, ele trocou beijos com a modelo Gabriela Versiani, com quem também já teve um romance antigamente.
Gabriel foi casado por pouco mais de 1 ano com a modelo Yasmin Brunet mas o casamento chegou ao fim em Janeiro de 2022. De acordo com o site Metrópoles e fontes próximas ao surfista, o casamento chegou ao fim pois a loira teria afastado Medina de seus amigos mais próximos e sua família, obrigando o atleta a deixar de seguir mulheres nas redes sociais. Além disso, houveram diversas polêmicas envolvendo o casal e a família de Gabriel, durante a época com a modelo ele teria deixado de seguir sua mãe e seu padrasto no instagram, ambos não apoiavam a relação.
A modelo chegou a se pronunciar sobre o término no podcast Podelas: “Todo final de relacionamento é horrível, mas é muito mais difícil quando você está sendo exposta o tempo todo. Foi muito cruel o meu porque eram mentiras todos os dias, e sempre ruim pra mim, eu sendo o lixo” Ela ainda falou que pensou em se pronunciar sobre o que realmente aconteceu várias vezes mas achava que ninguém ia acreditar nela e só ia aumentar os ataques que ela recebeu na época do término.
Desde então o atleta vem curtido muito bem a vida de solteiro, sempre sendo noticiado com um affair novo.
