Nesta quinta-feira (3), o surfista Gabriel Medina, de 28 anos, voltou às redes sociais pela primeira vez desde sua declaração de pausa na carreira e de seu término com Yasmin Brunet, de 33 anos. O casal havia assumido o relacionamento em 2020, e casaram-se em dezembro do mesmo ano no Havaí. No entanto, após enfrentarem um romance conturbado por polêmicas e brigas familiares, o anúncio do término foi veiculado por diversas mídias na última quinta-feira (27).
Até o momento, nenhum dos dois se pronunciou diretamente sobre o assunto. A publicação em seu Instagram, na qual o atleta aparece ajoelhado na areia enquanto abraça sua prancha, veio em tom de desabafo, trazendo uma legenda bíblica que ressalta a importância da fé, da esperança, e principalmente do amor. A última publicação de Medina no Instagram havia sido no dia 24 de janeiro, e trazia o anúncio de pausa na carreira, que o surfista afirmou ser necessária para cuidar de uma lesão no quadril e de sua saúde mental e emocional. “Cheguei no meu limite” afirmou ele, e tranquilizou os fãs: “Não sei quanto tempo levará, mas pretendo voltar ao tour do campeonato assim que estiver pronto”.

Gabriel Medina tornou-se tricampeão mundial de surf da ASP World Tour ao ganhar o campeonato em 2014, 2018 e 2021, sendo o primeiro brasileiro a vencer um circuito mundial de surf. Mesmo assim, ficou fora do pódio nas Olimpíadas de Tóquio.
Segundo o jornal Extra, o atleta já teria colocado a casa onde morava com a modelo Yasmin Brunet à venda. A mansão de 223 metros quadrados, localizada na praia de Maresias, litoral norte de São Paulo, está podendo ser arrematada pela bagatela de 8 milhões de reais, já completamente mobiliada.
