“The Idol” não agrada e é massacrada após estreia no Cannes

A nova produção da plataforma de streaming da HBO, “The Idol” teve sua estreia no prestigiado Festival de Cannes, na França, e não agradou. Com apenas dois episódios exibidos, a série conseguiu uma série críticas extremamente negativas, que variam desde o seu enredo, roteiro e construção dos personagens.

Com elenco estrelado, a série conta com a participação do premiado cantor The Weeknd, que além de ser um dos protagonistas, também fez parte de sua produção, da atriz Lilly-Rose Depp, Troye Sivan, Nico Hiraga, e Anne Heche. Dirigida por Sam Levinson, também autor de “Euphoria”, título mundialmente conhecido da plataforma. Ainda assim, de acordo com as críticas, Levinson errou feio desta vez, e trará para o catálogo o que os jornalistas chamaram de “Pornográfica, sórdida e tóxica”.

Em suma, a HBO não é conhecida por ter muitos limites com relação aos níveis de nudez de suas produções, porém, de acordo com a jornalista do “The Los Angeles Times”, Mary McNamara, a produção ultrapassou os limites já vistos.  

“… com muitas cenas sexuais gráficas até para os padrões da HBO, o termo ‘pornografia’ não é inadequado para descrever a série, embora seja difícil imaginar que alguém acharia essas encenações eróticas quando elas são tão exageradas”

A produção que foi anunciada em junho de 2021 e já passou por diversos escândalos de contratos e demissões agora tem sua data de estreia definida, e estará disponível na plataforma a partir do dia 4 de junho.

Com história que foca em um guru de autoajuda (The Weeknd), que atrai uma jovem popstar em ascensão (Lilly-Rose Depp), a fazendo entrar em um submundo perigoso de Los Angeles. Levinson queria fazer uma crítica ao peso que a indústria hollywoodiana impõe sobre as artistas, quanto a misoginia e a exploração de suas imagens, porém, ao que parece, o tiro saiu pela culatra.
