Atlético-MG recebe hoje, no Mineirão, às 19h, o Athletico-PR pela 4° rodada do grupo G da Libertadores 2023. A expectativa é de casa cheia, como mais de 50 mil atleticanos empurrando o Galo mineiro para a segunda vitória na competição. O Furacão, que possui duas vitórias e um empate, irá em busca de praticamente garantir sua classificação para as oitavas de final da competição sul-americana.
O Galo não começou bem a fase de grupos da atual edição da Libertadores, perdendo os dois primeiros jogos, contra o Libertad-PAR em casa e Athletico-PR fora de casa. Mas, venceu o Alianza Lima-PER na terceira rodada e ganhou uma sobrevida na competição. Os comandados e Eduardo Coudet encontram-se em boa fase, empilhando quatro vitórias consecutivas, pelo Brasileirão e Copa do Brasil, sendo a útlima contra o Coritiba, fora de casa, e busca confirmar a crescente do time hoje contra seu principal concorrente a uma vaga nas oitavas de final da competição, bem como, uma revanche contra os paranaenses, que o derrotaram na Arena da Baixada por 2×1.

Já pelo lado paranaense, o Furacão é líder isolado do grupo G, com 7 pontos, com suas vitórias e um empate. O time vinha numa boa sequência de vitórias, cinco no total, até ser derrotado no final de semana pelo RB Bragantino pelo Brasileirão.
