Foram anunciados os concorrentes ao Juno Awards 2023, um dos maiores prêmios de música canadense.
O artista The Weeknd lidera as indicações, tendo seu nome em seis categorias, tais quais Artista do Ano, Compositor do Ano, Single do Ano com “Sacrifice”, Álbum do Ano e Álbum Pop do Ano com “Dawn FM”. O cantor canadense é nomeado após um mês de desempenho de destaque no Spotify: em 12 de janeiro, ele acumulou o maior número de ouvintes mensais da história da plataforma, 94,7 milhões. Cinco dias antes, a faixa “Save Your Tears (Remix)”, feat com Ariana Grande, foi a décima faixa de The Weeknd a ultrapassar um bilhão de reproduções.
Avril Lavigne também chama atenção pela presença em cinco categorias do Juno Awards 2023, como Artista do Ano, Álbum do Ano, Álbum Pop do Ano com “Love Sux” e Single do Ano com “Bite Me”.
Outra artista indicada a cinco categorias é Tate McRae. A cantora e dançarina de 19 anos concorre a Single do Ano com “she’s all I wanna be”, Álbum do Ano e Álbum Pop do Ano com “i used to think i could fly”, e Compositora do Ano.
Os três cantores também concorrem na categoria TikTok JUNO Fan Choice, a única de decisão do público. A votação pode ser feita pelo site da premiação.

O Juno Awards é organizado pela Academia Canadense de Artes e Ciências da Gravação (CARAS), e terá a 52ª edição realizada no Rogers Place em 13 de março. O prêmio conta com 45 categorias de música canadense, incluindo as de Grupo ou Artista Indígena Tradicional do Ano e Grupo ou Artista Indígena Contemporâneo do Ano. Apenas uma categoria abrange música de não-canadenses: Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles e Lil Nas X tiveram trabalhos indicados a Álbum Internacional do Ano.
