Nesta quarta-feira (20), o portal Axios veiculou a informação de que as gigantes Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) e Paramount Global estariam se preparando para uma fusão. A união das duas grandes empresas poderá unir as plataformas Paramount+ e o Max.
As conversas sobre a união das duas gigantes do audiovisual está ainda em estágio inicial, contudo reuniões entre os CEOs das empresas aconteceram nesta terça-feira (19) em Nova Iorque. O acordo inicialmente é sobre a compra da Paramount Global pela WBD, mas não é descartada a compra do conglomerado National Amusements Inc. que controla a Paramount Global. O encontro foi feito entre David Zaslav, CEO da WBD, e Bob Bakish, CEO da Paramount Global.

União dos serviços
Os detalhes das negociações não foram divulgados, entretanto a união das plataformas Max e Paramount+ foi tópico nas discussões. A ideia é unir as duas plataformas para criar um catálogo robusto que conseguirá competir com as gigantes Netflix e Disney+. Entre os grandes sucessos da Paramount+ estão “Exterminador do Futuro”, “Top Gun”, “O Poderoso Chefão” e Panico, já pelo lado da WBD sucessos como “Harry Potter”, “Senhor dos Anéis” e o universo da DC.

Valores de mercado
Esta não será a primeira fusão da Warner Bros. Discovery, visto que em abril do ano passado a Discovery adquiriu WarnerMedia do grupo AT&T. A Paramount também já conhece o processo, já que o conglomerado surgiu da união da CBS e da Viacom em 2019. Um dado trazido pela “Variety” que impressiona é a diferença no valor capitalizado entre as duas empresas, enquanto a Paramount Global capitaliza cerca de US$ 10,3 bilhões, a WBD movimenta US$ 28,4 bilhões, mostrando a diferença de tamanho entre os grupos.
Em 2023, nas plataformas Max foram disponibilizados diversos sucessos do ano, como a sequência de, “Homem-Aranha: Através do Aranhaverso”, “Barbie” e a nova temporada de “Rick and Morty”. Já a Paramount+ adicionou em seu catálogo o último filme de Tarantino “Era uma vez… em Hollywood”, novos episódios de South Park, além de novas temporadas dos realities shows “De férias com o Ex” e “Rio Shore”.
