‘BioLantejoulas’: Stella McCartney apresenta novo material em ensaio da Vogue

A estilista Stella McCartney continua divulgando alternativas mais sustentáveis a materiais tradicionais da indústria. O alvo da vez foram as lantejoulas. A edição de abril deste ano da Vogue americana traz como estrela de capa a modelo Cara Delevingne. No ensaio feito para a publicação, ela usa um macacão de Stella McCartney, inteiramente coberto de “BioSequins”, biolantejoulas.

A tecnologia foi desenvolvida pela empresa Radiant Matter, que comemorou a parceria em sua conta no Instagram. “Estamos animados por ter lançado nossa colaboração com Stella McCartney, trabalhando juntos para criar a primeira roupa com bio lantejoulas brilhantes e iridescentes.”

As biolantejoulas são livres de plástico, biodegradáveis e não tóxicas, inteiramente feitas de celulose. No mesmo post, a empresa explica: “Não há uso de metais, minerais, pigmentos sintéticos ou corantes.”

Stella se declarou satisfeita com o resultado em um release à imprensa. “Estou maravilhada com a beleza iridescente do nosso macacão de BioSequin – feito à mão no meu ateliê em Londres a partir de lantejoulas feitas de plantas e atóxicas, que são ainad mais bonitas do que as opções convencionais. Quem disse que sustentabilidade não pode ser sexy? Estou muito grata pela Vogue nos ter dado plataforma para compartilhar isso e para inspirar outros a ver o potencial de um futuro da moda mais consciente.”

Desde 2010, a estilista baniu o PVC, um tipo de plástico, de suas coleções, inclusive das lantejoulas. Filha do ex-Beatle Paul McCartney e da ativista pelos direitos dos animais Linda McCartney, ela adota a postura pró-sustentabilidade desde o início de sua marca, em 2001, sem usar peles, pelos nem penas. No dia 6 deste mês, Stella apresentou sua coleção Outono/Inverno 2023 em Paris, e também usou a apresentação para divulgar novas tecnologias.

Na ocasião, ela abusou das opções feitas a partir do mundo vegetal. A versão branca da “Frayme Mylo™️” foi apresentada pela primeira vez. Trata-se da primeira bolsa de luxo do mundo feita com mycelium, que tem fungos como matéria prima. A Falabella Bag, icônica criação da marca, foi levada à passarela em material alternativo ao couro, fabricado com a tecnologia MIRIUM®️. Também foi usada a AppleSkin™, criada com os restos de maçã da indústria alimentícia.

As preocupações da estilista não são em vão. Segundo a LVMH, patrocinadora da marca, 33 milhões de roupas com lantejoulas são compradas por mulheres britânicas a cada temporada de festas. Após cerca de cinco usos, 1,7 milhão delas vai parar em aterros sanitários. Além disso, um estudo da União Internacional para a Conservação da Natureza de 2017 apontou que cerca de 35% dos microplásticos lançados nos oceanos vêm de roupas sintéticas.
