Surpresa do último dia da janela de transferências da temporada 2022/23, Arthur se despede do Liverpool após ter jogado apenas 13 minutos com a camisa dos Reds. O jogador da Juventus, emprestado ao time inglês, sofreu com diversas lesões e foi pouco utilizado por Jürgen Klopp.
O ex-jogador do Grêmio e do Barcelona deixará o Liverpool após atuar em apenas uma partida pela equipe. Arthur entrou em campo na derrota por 4×1 para a Napoli na fase de grupos da Champions League e ficou apenas 13 minutos em campo. Mas, apesar de não ter tido o tempo de jogo desejado, o técnico dos Reds elogiou o brasileiro e o desejou boa sorte em sua carreira. Klopp disse:
“Gostaria de desejar boa sorte ao Arthur Melo neste fim de empréstimo. As circunstâncias fizeram com que Arthur não pudesse jogar tanto quanto gostaria, mas seu profissionalismo e habilidade eram claros para todos que trabalharam com ele”.

Arthur passou por uma cirurgia na coxa esquerda e, para recuperar a sua forma física, atuou pelo time sub-23 do clube inglês. Porém, mesmo recuperado, o atleta não atuou novamente pela equipe principal. Chegou a ser relacionado mais cinco vezes, mas não entrou em campo.
Em seu instagram o jogador postou uma mensagem de despedida aos Reds dizendo:
“À medida que meu contrato com o @liverpoolfc chega ao seu fim, gostaria de agradecer a todos (treinadores, jogadores e equipe) por todo o apoio durante a última temporada.
Quero que saibam que terei uma gratidão eterna pelo clube. A torcida é, sem dúvida, uma das mais incríveis do mundo. A emoção de um jogo em Anfield é realmente impressionante.

O futuro de Arthur é incerto. Apesar de ter contrato com a Juventus até junho de 2025, não se sabe se o brasileiro será reintegrado ao elenco da equipe de Turim.
